Name: Provincial Groundwater Availability 250k

Display Field: GWAvailability_Lith

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: FormationalUnitPolys feature class represents the distribution of formational and lithological units. Additional fields have been added to the NCGMP FormationalUnitPolys to support map publication and query services via MGB ArcGIS Server. The FormationalUnitAge field references to the RuleID_Age domain. This domain offers a standardized vocabulary for symbolizing stratigraphic age, volcanic and plutonic rocks across the map area. The age domain values correspond to the divisions of geologic time from Internation Chronostratigraphic Chart v2016/13.Volcanic and plutonic domain values correspond to the terms captured in Appendix A. Terms and Definitions for the NGMDB Geologic Materials Classificationof A Classification of Geologic Materials for Web Display of National and Regional-Scale Mapping, USGS Open-File Report 2009-1298.The MapUnitLith field references SymbolLith domain. This domain offers a standardized vocabulary for symbolizing general lithology, as captured in Appendix A. Terms and Definitions for the NGMDB Geologic Materials Classification of USGS Open-File Report 2009-1298, A Classification of Geologic Materials for Web Display of National and Regional-Scale Mapping.Specific lithological symbols were created as a respond to the growing needs to provide detailed information on the extend of lithology per formation. Symbology for unit age and general lithology is included in the template as layer and style files. Colors for stratigraphic age are the RGB equivalent of the CMYK values defined in Section 33 of the FGDC Digital Cartographic Standard for Geologic Map Symbolization. Patterns for general lithology have been informed by the standard, in an attempt to mimic the hierarchal system established by Appendix A. Terms and Definitions for the NGMDB Geologic Materials Classification.Names for the additional specific lithological symbols were based on the 1:50,000-scale geological maps produce by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Philippines Modified after the esriNcgmp Online Geologic Mapping Template (v.10 SP1)to address the requirement for the Philippines geological setting and the updated version of various charts.
